Rhino Monitoring
Rhino Monitoring
Integrating state-of-the-art, real-time monitoring and tracking equipment, cutting-edge technology, intelligence, analysis and situational awareness, allows for more effective anti-poaching efforts.
The Chipembere Rhino Foundation has extensive experience in this field and specialises in sourcing, testing and funding the latest in rhino monitoring technology needed for effective and meaningful monitoring of Rhino on the ground – where it is needed.
Monitoring technology including VHF/UHF/GPS tracking collars, horn transmitters, identity micro-chips, camera traps and aerial surveillance flights, allows rhino monitoring and anti-poaching teams to collate data pertaining to the position of the rhino, which is fed back into a secure network. This visually records the location and physical health of all of the rhino on a regular basis and will help anti-poaching teams to have a strategic presence where needed. The equipment plays a pivotal role in the day to day monitoring and protection of rhino populations in large natural areas and also assists with understanding the natural habitat usage.
